Use Virgil

Virgil is still under development and is not available to install. This guide follows the current learner-facing build. Check the Install page for public availability.

Save something without stopping

Use the toolbar action, keyboard route, or context menu while you are reading. Save the exact selection when the passage matters, or save the whole page when the context matters more than one sentence. Add a note only when you want Virgil to remember why you kept it.

1. Highlight the useful passage, or leave the page unselected.
2. Choose Pin, or use Pick what to pin when several blocks belong together.
3. Wait for the saved receipt in the side panel. One online selection opens its lesson there. A queued receipt means the pin is stored locally and still needs to reach your service.

Learn now or let it return deeper

A Quick take gives a short answer to the current question. Choose Understood or Add to my lessons. Virgil records the choice, closes the take and returns to Learn.

A later session is slower and checked. It may explain from nothing, rebuild something you partly know, or go straight to the boundary on a topic you already understand. You do not choose the lesson style in Settings. Virgil selects it from your comfort and certainty for that topic.

Use Today for one answer

Today answers one question: what should I do right now? Choose 1, 3, or 5 minutes. Virgil chooses one move that fits and explains why it is ahead of the alternatives.

A ready lesson leads when one is available. A dated commitment or a short recall task can take its place when either is more useful. Today has no overdue count, streak or total to clear.

Finish by recording what actually happened. A five-minute lesson includes something to recall, apply, observe, or continue. Demonstrated work, feedback, and outcomes carry more weight than an early self-assessment, and the next move can change immediately.

Bring a course into My studies, then plan it

My studies holds the subjects and courses you are actively learning. Course sources can arrive as pasted text or a document drop. Virgil proposes objectives, obligations, dates, and questions as drafts. Nothing enters your plan until you review and confirm it.

1. Add the syllabus, rubric, assignment brief, or other course source.
2. Review the exact source beside each proposed objective or obligation.
3. Answer any clarification question instead of letting an ambiguous date become a guess.
4. Confirm only the items that belong in your course and plan.

Plan combines those dated commitments with the study time and work you add yourself. A due date can raise a topic's urgency, but it cannot erase the evidence about what you actually understand.

Check a draft without asking Virgil to write it

Paste your own work into Check a draft. Virgil reviews it against the assignment and the weak spots already visible in your learning record. It names the issue and points to the relevant passage. It leaves the writing to you.

If a finding exposes a recurring subject you want to practise, you can turn it into a struggle pin. A review changes your model or board only when you choose that action.

See the board and the evidence behind it

The board separates Get started, Currently learning, Recharging, Paused, and Learnt. Paused topics remain separate from learnt topics. Recharging holds material due for spaced review.

Insights shows what Virgil currently thinks, how certain it is, and which evidence moved it. Every line names its provenance as my read or your words. Treat that model as a working hypothesis: correct a machine read, edit your own words, remove evidence that should not be there, or delete the derived understanding with it.

Choose your theme and connections

The page theme has two choices everywhere: Whiteboard and Blackboard. Virgil stores the theme on this device and keeps it outside your learning record.

Settings also holds account, model, connection, pause, and exclusion controls. Each room and Settings subsection has its own browser address. Google handles sign-in for account-backed installations, and Virgil receives no password. Each model connection has assigned jobs. A failed provider cannot spend through another connection.
